While the models were on the runway at a fund-raising fashion show for cancer survivors, someone was in the dressing rooms stealing almost $1,000 worth of cell phones, jewelry, gift cards and cash, police said.
The theft happened during a Gilda's Club of Rochester fashion show for vintage clothing, according to Rochester Police Capt. Glenn Hoff. Gilda's Clubs are named for Gilda Radner, the "Saturday Night Live" comedian who died of cancer in 1989.
At least 15 of 57 models, many of them cancer survivors, had items stolen from inside the dressing room during Sunday's 70-minute show. More models might have had items taken that they are not yet aware of, Hoff said.
Gilda's Club Executive Director Veronica Lee said the club will try to raise money to replace the models' possessions.
