Fred Laskey is making another attempt to organize an antitax group in Niagara County.
Laskey, who tried unsuccessfully to get such a group off the ground last fall, has called an organizational meeting for the new Niagara County Taxpayers Union for 7 p.m. Thursday in Lockport Public Library, 23 East Ave.
Laskey, 57, a disabled laborer who lives in the Town of Lockport, said a taxpayer group would act as a check on local governments.
He singled out the County Legislature: "They have total disdain for the people," he said. "The only solution they have to any problem is to raise taxes."
But Laskey added, "The school boards are the ones that do the most damage."
