The Seaway Trail, which stretches from northwest Pennsylvania to the St. Lawrence Seaway, is included in the first "Geotourism Map to Appalachia," produced by the Appalachian Regional Commission.
The 454-mile scenic driving and boating route is federally designated as one of America's Byways and is a National Recreation Trail. Sites selected for the map were chosen for their contribution to sustaining and enhancing the environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage and well-being of regional residents.
The map was developed by the National Geographic Society and is being distributed in the April issue of National Geographic Traveler.
