PEDIATRIC SURGEONS HAVE DEAL WITH HMO

Independent Health and SUNDOC, the group of pediatric surgeons that practices out of Women and Children's Hospital, has announced a new three-year agreement that will run through March 2008.

With the agreement, the SUNDOC physicians are again part of the Independent Health network. The physicians had not been participating in the HMO since Jan. 1.

SUNDOC Independent Practice Association represents 28 pediatric subspecialty surgeons who work at Kaleida Health's pediatric hospital.

The physicians had complained that their reimbursement from Independent Health was below national averages, making it difficult to maintain a surgical staff.

Terms of the agreement were not released.
