Alderman at Large Lawrence V. Soos has been endorsed for mayor by the city Democratic Committee.

"As a committee, we felt that Larry's years of dedication in both community organizations and on the Common Council make him the ideal candidate for mayor of our city," party Chairman Daniel Rivera said.

"I am eager to transfer the skills I learned in the Common Council across the hall to the mayor's office," said Soos, who was elected to the Council in 2001. "I vow to bring the same kind of dedication, insight and integrity to the mayor's office that I have stood for on the Common Council."

Mayor David J. Burgio, the incumbent Republican, is running for re-election but faces challenges in his party from Niagara County Legislature Clerk Michael P. Carney and Board of Education President Arthur G. Pappas.
