Patrick Allen beat Chris Loschetter, 235-210, Sunday to win the PBA World Championship in Ypsilanti, Mich., along with $120,000 and a four-year tour exemption.
Allen, the No. 1 player in national point standings, needed nine pins in the 10th frame to win -- and got seven on the first ball in a 6-7-10 split. His second shot took out the 6-10 and assured him of the victory regardless of what Loschetter did in his final frame.
"That's not the way you want to win," Allen said. "Getting 7-2 in the 10th. You want to go up there and throw a good shot."
Loschetter, who earned $50,000 for second, beat Brian Voss, 231-165, in the semifinals, while Allen beat Mike Scroggins, 279-198. Both semifinal losers earned $20,000.
