The University at Buffalo Law Alumni Association is hosting the members of the New York State Court of Appeals at its 43rd annual meeting and dinner April 14 in the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.
The dinner is part of an unusual visit by the Court of Appeals judges, who will convene here for the first time after being invited by the alumni association. The court will be in session from 1 to 4 p.m. April 14 in the Ceremonial Courtroom at Old County Hall.
At the dinner two days later, the UB Law Alumni Association will present distinguished alumni awards to David R. Pfalzgraf and Diane F. Bosse.
The association will also recognize Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye of the Court of Appeals for "outstanding service to the university and community."
She will be joined by the six associate judges on the state's highest court: George Bundy Smith, Carmen Beauchamp Ciparick, Albert M. Rosenblatt, Victoria A. Graffeo, Susan Phillips Read and Robert S. Smith.
Kaye will present the Justice M. Dolores Denman scholarship award to a UB law student.
Pfalzgraf is being honored for contributing to the improvement of this community. He is counsel to the firm of Pfalzgraf Beinhauer & Menzies.
Bosse is being recognized for her commitment to public service. A partner in the Buffalo firm of Volgenau & Bosse, she is chairwoman of the state Board of Law Examiners and secretary of the National Conference of Bar Examiners.
