John A. "Jack" Nunn Jr., of Newstead, longtime owner and operator of an electrical contracting business, died Thursday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, following a long illness. He was 70.
Mr. Nunn was born in Buffalo and graduated from Seneca Vocational School and electrician journeyman school. He served 25 years in the U.S. Naval Reserve as a second class electrician's mate.
Mr. Nunn ran Jack Nunn Electric in Alden from 1955 to 1997, when he retired.
He served as a chaplain with the Alden Fired Department and as chief chaplain for the New York State Association of Fire Chaplains. He was a founder of the Alden Pantry and a former warden at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former JoAnn M. Brown; a daughter, Julie Ann Barr of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sons, Jeff A. of Depew and John A. III of Akron; a brother, James W. of West Seneca; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A Requiem Eucharist will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, 13021 W. Main St., Alden. Burial will be in Marilla Cemetery.
