FALLS POLICE PROBING SERIES OF ASSAULTS

Police are investigating three assaults Friday afternoon and evening, including one that sent a teen-aged girl to the hospital.

The 16-year-old victim told police she was walking with a friend in the 500 block of 19th Street about 5:30 p.m. when a pair of teen girls threatened them. The victim said she threw a punch and was then jumped by both girls, who punched her repeatedly and then broke a beer bottle over her head.

The victim's eyeglasses were broken, and she was treated for minor injuries at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, police said.

A Monteagle Street man told police he was beaten for no apparent reason by a neighbor about 7:20 p.m. Friday. The victim was punched in the mouth, causing a cut, and his assailant then broke a window out of the side door of his home before fleeing, police said.

Later, about 10 p.m., a Pierce Avenue man was hurt when he was attacked at 18th Street and Linwood Avenue, police said.

The victim told police a man he knows, but had no prior problems with, got out of a car, said he was "stressing" and then slugged the victim across the left elbow with an aluminum baseball bat.

All three victims were advised to seek arrest warrants.
