MARY J. RUDDICK
MAY 27, 1911 -- MARCH 21, 2005

Williamsville resident Mary J. Ruddick, 93, a retired cashier, died March 21 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital after a brief illness.

Born Mary Schieferstein in Buffalo, she was orphaned at age 10 and lived for a time in the city's German Catholic orphanage. She met Father Nelson H. Baker as a child, when he visited the orphanage, family members recalled.

Mrs. Ruddick graduated from Sacred Heart Academy.

She worked in the coffee and gift shops at the Buffalo International Airport for 22 years, as a cashier, until she retired at age 72.

Her husband, Carl L., died in 1975.

She enjoyed classic movies and reading, preferring biographies.

A memorial Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday in Christ the King Catholic Church, Main Street and Lamarck Drive, Snyder.
