The Erie County District Attorney's Office identified a Buffalo woman as the former Grover Cleveland Golf Course cashier who stole $2,700 in county golf fees last fall while on the job as a seasonal county employee.
Donyel Hockenberger, 49, of Inwood Place, manipulated the county's cash register system from July to October of last year, repeatedly entering fictitious returns so she could pocket the cash, officials said.
Her case was highlighted in a recent audit by the comptroller's office that recommended that tighter accounting measures be implemented in the Parks Department.
Hockenberger was arrested Oct. 27 and charged with grand larceny. She pleaded guilty to a petit larceny misdemeanor in City Court and received a conditional discharge in exchange for making full restitution to the county.
