Sheldrick Valentine, 34, faces a prison term of from five to 25 years when sentenced June 15 for sexually assaulting a girl several times from 2001 to 2003.
Valentine, of Cheektowaga, was convicted of sexual misconduct involving a child and third-degree sodomy Wednesday evening following a trial before Erie County Judge Shirley Troutman.
The victim, who was 8 and 9 years old when the assaults took place in Amherst, testified under questioning from Assistant District Attorney Rose McMorrow.
Valentine took the stand to deny the charges. The jury found him not guilty of additional counts of sodomy and sexual abuse.
