A Grider Street man was gunned down Wednesday afternoon and police are asking for the public's help in locating witnesses to the crime.
Martin Jackson, 33, was in front of his 501 Grider St. home at about 4:30 p.m. when the gunman fired two shots, striking him in the back. Jackson had just moved into the house, which is near the Erie County Medical Center.
He was assisted to the hospital by a man who heard the shots, but Jackson died in surgery shortly after 8 p.m., according to Buffalo Police Homicide Lt. Kenneth Bienko.
Bienko said police were searching for a motive for the crime as well as trying to track down leads and witnesses.
