Two full days of searching have failed to find Robert H. Brandel, 79, who has been missing since noon Tuesday from his home, which borders Tonawanda Creek near the Niagara-Erie county line.

Niagara County sheriff's deputies, a team of divers and dozens of volunteer firefighters from five area companies have searched from daybreak to nightfall but found no trace of the retired telephone company lineman.

Brandel's wife, Marian, said she last saw him raking leaves in the back yard of their Lockport Avenue home. There is no fence in the back yard, which abuts the creek.

Police believe he may have fallen into the creek, but Brandel's family is skeptical.

His daughter, Lorrie May of North Tonawanda, said he has lived creekside for more than 20 years and was in very good health.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Niagara County Sheriff's Department at 438-3393.
