RAMP TO RUBBLE: DOWNTOWN DEMOLITION

Razing the roof: A giant steel claw makes rubble Thursday of the Convention Center parking ramp, between Pearl and Franklin streets in downtown Buffalo. The 34-year-old ramp, which closed for good on March 14, is being razed to create a shovel-ready building lot for the market. In the meantime, the site will be converted into a 120-car surface parking lot expected to open in August. The scene was photographed from the 11th floor of the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.
