Can someone please define the meaning of fiscal watchdog? Apparently I misunderstood the term. I thought it meant someone who would tenaciously oversee county finances. Nancy Naples' inaction at many levels has cost the taxpayers a huge price. By not securing the loan that was available to us at a lower rate, we are now forced to pay the new loan back at a higher rate.
Failing to make the pension payment on time will cost us more money. To add insult to injury, Naples filed suit with the courts to prevent cuts in her department, which will also cost us more money.
Naples sounds a lot more like a liability than an asset to me. If we eliminated her department, we would save on payroll, benefits and late fees. We could hire a private accounting firm for a lot less money. There might even be some money left over to rehire some of the terminated civil service employees who were actually providing service to the people.
