A Gowanda man who is a registered sex offender was arrested on charges of falsely reporting a sexual assault, felony rape, sexual abuse of a child, persistent sexual abuse and criminal sexual act, Gowanda police reported Tuesday.
Police said Louis M. Martina reported an incident involving an alleged sexual assault to a Gowanda school resource officer earlier this month. An investigation revealed, however, that Martina fabricated the complaint.
He was initially charged Nov. 18 with trespassing, falsely reporting an incident and endangering the welfare of child and held on bail in the Erie County Holding Center.
After conducting interviews, obtaining statements, executing search warrants and collecting evidence, police additionally charged Martina with the additional criminal counts.
Further charges are also pending.
Martina was arraigned on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 property bond.
