Services for Dr. Everett E. French, a retired psychiatrist, were held today in Schindler Funeral Home, Gowanda. Burial was in Maple Wood Cemetery, Springville.
Dr. French died Sunday in his Collins home after a lengthy illness. He was 82.
A native of Rockbridge, Wis., he graduated from Hillsboro High School. After graduation, he went into the Navy, serving in both World War II and the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1955.
He graduated from Kansas City College of Medicine in 1958. In 1962, he received his medical degree from California College of Medicine.
Dr. French was a psychiatrist at Gowanda Psychiatric Center and then Buffalo Psychiatric Center, from which he retired.
He was a member of Post 5007, Veterans of Foreign Wars; Post 409, American Legion; Lodge 1382, Loyal Order of Moose; and the Slovenia Club, all in Gowanda. He attended Cherry Creek Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, the former Loretta Ranke; two daughters, Lynda Smith of Arlington, Texas, and Leslie Honeychurch of Davis, Calif.; a stepson, Joseph DeCarlo of Collins; two brothers, Dewayne of Madison, Wis., and Ronald of Cross Plains, Wis.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
