A request to rezone property in West Seneca for a facility to store construction vehicles was withdrawn after the property owner and neighbors were unable to work out their differences.
Town Councilman Craig J. Hicks said during a meeting of the Town Board on Monday that the owner, Dan Reidy, told him that he was withdrawing his request to rezone 395 West Ave. from residential to manufacturing but that he was still planning to build a storage facility on part of the property zoned for manufacturing.
More than a dozen residents, many from a condominium complex, spoke out against the rezoning during a public hearing during a Town Board meeting Nov. 15, when the issue was tabled.
They said the project would have a negative impact on the neighborhood and property values.
In other business, the board approved the purchase of a 2002 Ford Expedition truck from Pat Leary Motor Cars on Union Road in West Seneca for $19,800.
It replaces a 1994 Ford van currently being used by the dog control office. An additional amount of as much as $5,200 was also approved for equipment on the new vehicle, including lights, radios and lettering.
