Geraldine K. Szramkowski of Clarence, a homemaker and licensed practical nurse, died Saturday in St. Joseph Hospital, Cheektowaga, after a brief illness. She was 71.
Born Geraldine Zoghibe in Buffalo, she was a graduate of Kensington High School and the E.J. Meyer Memorial Hospital program for licensed practical nurses. She lived in the city until moving to Clarence 10 years ago.
Before raising her family, Mrs. Szramkowski worked as a licensed practical nurse at Millard Fillmore Hospital and Sisters Hospital.
She enjoyed reading, working on her computer and cooking.
Mrs. Szramkowski was a member of the Buffalo Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 25 years and once served as its president.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ronald S.; a daughter, Susan Rogers of Clarence; three sons, James of East Aurora, Richard of Marilla and Joseph of Buffalo; and seven grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 8500 Main St., Clarence. Burial will be in Clarence Fillmore Cemetery.
