Rev. Eric Johns, following his first night back home after spending five nights on the streets with homeless people, awoke Sunday to see the darker side of human nature.
Someone had slashed all four tires on both vans belonging to his Buffalo Dream Center church. Both vehicles were parked in front of his house, in the city's Grant-Ferry neighborhood.
"No other vehicles on the street were damaged, and mine weren't even parked next to each other," he said. "So somebody had to know both belonged to our church."
Following the news of the vandalized vehicles, Johns has received offers to fix them from about 20 different mechanics and repair shops.
"Actually, something terrible has happened, and we've been able to see something good from it," he said. "People care."
