The pastor of St. Ann's Catholic Church stopped a burglar in his tracks over the weekend.
The Rev. James Joyce told Ferry-Fillmore District officers that he confronted a man carrying household items and tools at 5:45 p.m. Saturday in the living room of the rectory at 501 Emslie St.
The burglar dropped his bag and fled out the door, but police later made an arrest at Krettner Street and Paderewski Drive.
Alvin Watson, 52, of no permanent address, was charged with felony burglary.
Police said the intruder had entered by breaking a basement window, then took various clocks, jewelry, batteries and tools before the pastor confronted him.
