John M. Connors III, a retired teacher and administrator with Hamburg Central Schools, died Tuesday in his Angola home after suffering a heart attack. He was 68.
Known as "Jack," Mr. Connors was born in Buffalo and grew up in Hamburg. He received a master's degree in education from Buffalo State College and also received an administrative degree.
Between 1959 and his retirement in 1995, Mr. Connors taught math in Hamburg Junior High School, served as assistant principal at the Hamburg Senior High School, and an assistant principal and principal at Union Pleasant Elementary School.
Mr. Connors had served as president of the teachers union, and was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, a professional association for educators. He was a member of Gowanda Country Club, and enjoyed golfing and camping.
He also was an active church member.
Mr. Connors had been a longtime resident of Eden before moving to Angola.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra Fein of Southbury, Conn., and Sharon Hart of Houston; a son, Michael of Derby; two brothers, the Rev. William J. of Dade City, Fla., and Dr. Gerald D. of Houston; four grandchildren; and his former wife, Sandra Connors of Orchard Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered today in St. Vincent de Paul Church, North Evans.
