DISINTERESTED LEGISLATORS SHOULD GIVE UP THEIR JOBS

I attended the second legislative hearing on the 2005 county budget on Nov. 23 at Erie Community College. There was an excellent turnout. Over 400 people attended and 80 speakers signed up to give their opinions and concerns on the budget. But were we wasting our time and breath?

While most of the legislators were attentive and looked genuinely interested in what we all were saying, two of them seemed like they could care less about what was going on. They sat on the stage, looked around, talked to each other while people were speaking and generally seemed disinterested in being involved at all.

If you don't want to do the job you were elected to do, good and bad, then step down and let someone who will do the job to the best of his ability in. I certainly hope that this type of behavior is not a reflection of the entire Legislature's attitude. If it is, then we certainly are wasting our breath.
