Trainer John Servis and jockey Stewart Elliott got a taste of Triple Crown success this year with Smarty Jones. They will try to do it again next season with the unbeaten Rockport Harbor.
Servis and Elliott, who teamed to guide Smarty Jones to victories in the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, have reason to be optimistic after Rockport Harbor captured the Grade 2, $200,000 Remsen Stakes for 2-year-olds by a neck over Galloping Grocer to stretch the winning streak to four at Aqueduct.
The day also featured two other stakes as Lion Tamer rallied from last to take the Grade 1, $350,000 Cigar Mile and Sis City won the Grade 2, $200,000 Demoiselle for 2-year-old fillies on the final weekend of major races in New York this year.
"This will be a big boost for the horse," Servis said of Rockport Harbor. "He really had to dig in."
Rockport Harbor ran the 1 1/8 miles for 2-year-olds in 1:48.88, the second-fastest Remsen at the current distance.
