To all the parents who were at the basketbrawl in Detroit last week: Take your children to one of the two NASCAR races in Michigan next year. You will enjoy a sport where there are great role models children can look up to like Jeff Gordon, Dale Jarrett and Bobby Labonte.
NASCAR is a sport which has grown in popularity and to No. 2 in TV ratings for sports in the last 10 years. Kurt Busch, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon were separated by 16 points in the new NASCAR playoff format. It's a sport that fined one of its biggest stars, Dale Earnhardt Jr., for swearing.
NASCAR is the only sport with any American values it seems lately. NASCAR doesn't want someone like Ron Artest, who would try to run over NASCAR fans when he lost his temper. Or Leonard Little of the St. Louis Rams, who killed an innocent person while driving drunk.
The Daytona 500 in February will be here soon, Mark Martin, Kyle Petty, and Jeff Gordon will make America proud. No trashy halftime shows or strikes allowed like in football or hockey. Just red, white and blue American flags being waved by 250,000 patriotic Americans at Daytona saluting our military protecting the USA!
