How can we afford to lose our libraries? My two children under the age of 5 consider a visit to our Amherst library as a special treat. They are able to pick out their favorite picture books or readers, and maybe a video or DVD. Countless children enjoy and look forward to the free story times and programs offered.
Not many things in life are free, but the libraries are. Young and old, wealthy and poor, use the library system and pay nothing. Do not take this from us. Libraries are an integral part of life -- not an option.
