EX-SOLDIER GETS 25 YEARS FOR MURDERING TEENAGER

A former Fort Drum soldier will spend up to 25 years in prison for the killing last year of a teenager during a robbery.

Albert Santana Jr., 21, will also serve an additional 15-year sentence for another attempted robbery that took place roughly 20 minutes after he killed DaQuan Phillips on a Syracuse street.

Santana was convicted last month of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Phillips, 17.

"This is without question one of the most senseless shootings I've ever seen," Onondaga County Judge Joseph Fahey told Santana Wednesday during sentencing.
