Next weekend at Kleinhans Music Hall, the spotlight will be on crisp, spirited American music. The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Music Director JoAnn Falletta will be presenting "American Frontiers," with music by Aaron Copland and John Williams, of "Star Wars" fame.

The Copland music is some of his most magnificent and beloved, evoking the expanse of the American West. The program includes the suite from the movie "The Red Pony," as well as "Prairie Journal," "Letter from Home" and four Dance Episodes from "Rodeo."

And BPO bassoonist Glenn Einschlag steps forward to be the soloist in "The Five Sacred Trees: Concerto for Bassoon and Orchestra" by John Williams.

The concert is especially exciting because much of the music on the program will be included on the orchestra's next recording for the Naxos label. The concert takes place next Friday and Dec. 4 at 8 p.m. For information, call 885-5000.
