William Henry Daniel, a former Air Force officer, died Sunday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, after a long illness. He was 71.
Mr. Daniel was born in Birmingham, Ala., and moved to the Town of Niagara after coming to Western New York 24 years ago.
He served in the Air Force for 30 years, retiring as a chief master sergeant in 1980. He later worked as a quality control foreman at Bell Aerospace until 1992.
Mr. Daniel enjoyed music and playing the guitar, fishing and handy work.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, the former Erika Becker; a daughter, Linda James of Rome; a son, Karl of the Town of Tonawanda; two sisters, Lorene Collins and Helen Mitchell and a brother, Walter, all of Birmingham; and five grandchildren.
Services are private. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
