A Jamestown girl who tried to avoid danger by jumping out of a moving vehicle was run over Tuesday morning, but was not seriously injured, police said.
According to police, the child was in the back seat of a sport utility vehicle Tuesday morning on Swan Street. The driver was scraping ice off of the windshield when the vehicle started rolling backward.
The girl got scared and decided to jump out the back door, but was run over by the driver's side front tire. The full weight of the vehicle rolled over her chest.
She was treated in WCA Hospital for minor injuries and released. Her name was not released.
