Gary P. Lorenti Sr., 61, died Sunday at his residence after a brief illness.
A lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, Mr. Lorenti attended local schools.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1965. He received a Good Conduct Medal and Rifle Expert Badge. He was an active member of the Conrad F. Kania Detachment 230 of the Marine Corps League. He was the Marine Corps League train conductor for many years until his retirement.
Mr. Lorenti enjoyed painting, wood carving, his pond and spending time with his family and wife of 10 years, the former Norma Logan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lisa A. Hescox of Niagara Falls; two sons, Marco R. and Gary P. Jr., both of Niagara Falls; four stepchildren, Francis M. Stuart of Youngstown, Sheryl A. Tritchew of Waterdown, Ont., Tracey L. Neufeld of St. Catharines, Ont., and Pam J. Marler of Oakville, Ont.; a brother, Richard of the Town of Niagara; three sisters, Joan Hunt of Owensound, Canada, Linda Suscie of the Town of Niagara, and Darlene "Debbie" Holmes of St. Regis Falls; and 17 grandchildren.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Otto Redanz Funeral Home, 2215 Military Road. Burial will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in Lewiston.
