Mary Anne Buckley, co-owner of Buckley's Nursery, died in her Williamsville home on Tuesday after a long illness. She was 74.
The landscape design business in Williamsville celebrated 50 years of operation this year.
Mrs. Buckley was a third-grade public school teacher from the late 1950s to early '60s; her final assignment was at School 66. She was an M&T Bank teller from 1973 to 1978.
Born Mary Anne Bowen in South Buffalo, she graduated from Mount Mercy Academy in 1947 and D'Youville College in 1951 and did graduate work at the University at Buffalo.
Mrs. Buckley was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and its senior citizens group.
For the past 20 years, Mrs. Buckley and her husband, Thomas A. Jr., wintered in West Palm Beach. Fla. She enjoyed ceramics and crocheting.
Survivors in addition to her husband of 53 years include two daughters, Mary Catherine Waterman of Hamburg and Anne M. Wahl of Warsaw; four sons, Thomas A. III and Mark J., both of Williamsville, Joseph R. of Springfield, Va., and Kevin F. of Depew; two sisters, Kathleen DeBoldt of Kirkland, Wash., and Agnes Simons of Orchard Park; a brother, John Bowen of Elma; and 14 grandchildren.
Prayers will be said at 10 a.m. Friday in Roberts & Dengler Funeral Home, 8630 Transit Road, East Amherst. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:45 a.m. in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 200 St. Gregory Court at Maple Road, Amherst. Burial will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Williamsville.
