MAN GIVEN PROBATION FOR HAVING MARIJUANA

Carl A. Phillips, 35, of Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, was placed on three years' probation Tuesday for having 1.53 pounds of marijuana in his home.

Phillips was arrested Nov. 28, 2003, after firefighters who extinguished a blaze in Phillips' home found the drugs and reported the find to police.

Besides the probation term, Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Sperrazza ordered Phillips to perform 300 hours of community service.
