SANTA PARADE: Olean will kick off the holiday season at 7 p.m. Friday with the Santa Claus Lane parade. The march, which will feature 30 floats and other marching units, is sponsored by the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce. The parade will step off from the area around the Burger King on North Union Street, head south past Lincoln Park and disperse at Henley Street. Prizes will be awarded in nine categories.

TREE LIGHTING: The Harlem Kensington Cleveland Business Association and Ellis, Kustell & Warren Attorneys at Law announce the sixth annual Tree of Hope Lighting Ceremony, 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, at the Triangle. Festivities include a petting zoo and pony rides, and cookie decorating with Santa Claus.

CRYSTAL BEACH LECTURE: A representative of the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society will lecture on the history and lore of Crystal Beach at 1:45 p.m. Monday, at Elderwood Village at Glenwood, 5271 Main St., Williamsville. The lecture is free and open to the public. For information, call 565-9663.

ORACLE CHARTER SCHOOL: Informational meeting will be held regarding the school's academic program, school culture and application procedures, 6:30 p.m. Monday, at Gloria J. Parks Community Center, 3242 Main St. The school is currently accepting applications for students entering grades 7 to 9 in fall 2005. For information, call 362-3188.

HOME PARTIES: St. Vincent de Paul Playground Committee is hosting a "Night of Home Parties" from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the school auditorium, 6441 Seneca Street and Rice Road, Elma.

Featured will be several home party vendors such as Tupperware, Creative Memories, Pampered Chef, Avon and others. Admission is $5 at the door or $3 presale at the school office.
