A Buffalo teenager who was heavily armed when police arrested him after a foot chase last week was arraigned Monday in a fatal shooting Oct. 18 on Genesee Street.

Gary Green, 16, of Jack Tram Court, was jailed without bail after an Erie County grand jury indicted him on charges of second-degree murder and weapons offenses in the death of Laquon Bradley, 24, of Courtland Avenue.

A gunman firing from a car shot Bradley in the hip, severing an artery, outside Ali's Deli at Genesee and Sherman streets. The victim died two days later in Erie County Medical Center.

Assistant District Attorney Joseph M. Mordino said the grand jury was hearing evidence against Green in the shooting when he was arrested Thursday after fleeing police on Pershing Avenue with three loaded guns and a bulletproof vest.

Green broke into a home on Gerhart Street, where Fillmore-Ferry District Officer Jose Colon found him hiding in an upstairs bathroom, police said. They said Green was subdued after fighting with several officers, who recovered crack cocaine along with the weapons and the vest.

Mordino said Bradley, who apparently did not know Green, was gunned down in retaliation for a gun attack on the suspect earlier in the day in the same neighborhood.

"There is no indication that Bradley was involved in any action against this guy. He was just an easy target," Mordino said.

Detective Sgt. Daniel Figueroa of the Major Crimes Unit said Bradley was the city's 43rd homicide victim of the year.
