MAN, 79, STRUCK, KILLED BY CAR ON TRANSIT ROAD

An elderly Clarence Center man was struck and killed Sunday afternoon on Transit Road, north of Maple Road in Amherst.

Nosratollah Samadi, 79, was walking in the southbound lanes when he was struck at 12:20 p.m. by a car driven by Robert Brown, 30, of East Amherst, according to police. The accident took place between the Eastview Plaza and the Wegmans store.

The victim suffered head, chest and leg injuries and was transported by ambulance to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, where he died at 1:45 p.m., according to police.

Brown, who was traveling alone in his car, was injured by flying glass and complained of neck injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.

The crash is under investigation.
