ELDERLY COUPLE INJURED IN AMHERST CAR CRASH

An elderly Buffalo couple was listed in serious condition Sunday after being injured in a two-car accident at Maple and Flint roads in Amherst.

Marvin Steinberg, 84, and his wife, Gertrude, 85, of Rand Avenue, were taken to Erie County Medical Center after the car in which they were riding crashed into another vehicle at 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

Amherst police said the Steinbergs were riding in a car operated by Jack Helfant of Buffalo. Police said the car was westbound on Maple when it turned in front of a car operated by Ashley Racine of Williamsville, who was traveling east. Both drivers were treated in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, and released.
