Victor "Don" Neff, a retired assembler and World War II veteran, died Thursday in Sisters Hospital of congestive heart failure. He was 84.
Born in Milesburg, Pa., he graduated from Tyrone High School in Tyrone, Pa., in 1939.
An Army sergeant during the war, he served for more than 16 months as an airplane and maintenance technician with the 65th Troop Carrier Squadron.
Mr. Neff was an assembler at Westinghouse Electric Corp. from 1956 until he retired in 1981. He later was an insurance broker.
He was a member of Post 1377, American Legion, Alden; Twin Village Post 463, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Depew; and Alden Presbyterian Church. He was a hunter and built the Alden home in which he had lived since 1958.
His wife of 56 years, Grace L. Miller Neff, died in 2002.
He is survived by two daughters, Reyne Jankowski of Alden and Shirley Collins of Clarence.
A service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Charles Meyer Funeral Home, 13228 Broadway, Alden. Burial will be in Alden Union Cemetery.
