Two deer-check stations will be staffed by biologists from the state Department of Environmental Conservation as deer season begins Monday in Western New York.
From noon until 8 p.m. Monday, DEC staff will be at the deer-check station on Route 16, south of Holland. They also will be there from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Saturday.
DEC staff will be at the deer-check station at the rest area on Route 219, south of Springville, from noon to 8 p.m. Monday and from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday.
Checking in at the station is voluntary, but the DEC encourages hunters to visit the stations so wildlife biologists can collect data on Western New York's deer population.
