Four police cars sped to the scene of a possible child abduction Saturday, only to find children fleeing from a botched shoplifting with their crying 3-year-old sibling in tow.
The incident started about 12:35 p.m. when security personnel at Wilson Farms, 15th Street and Pine Avenue, began watching a group of youngsters stashing items inside a baby stroller, police said.
When confronted, the children panicked and fled. The toddler's shoes fell off in the process.
Police said they located the youths a short distance away, the toddler walking in bare feet. No charges were filed.
