Lorraine S. Zielinski of Buffalo, a distributor for The Buffalo News for 13 years and a longtime community volunteer, died Wednesday in Mercy Hospital after a long illness. She was 68.
Born Lorraine Lewandowski in Buffalo, she was a graduate of East High School. She worked as a distributor for The News in the Clinton-Fillmore area.
The mother of eight, she was known for her devotion to her family and friends. She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society and the Thaddeus Dulski Community Center Senior Citizens Group. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert J.; five sons, Tim, Robert R. and Paul, all of Cheektowaga, Kevin of Buffalo and Jeffrey of Amherst; three daughters, Kim Jowsey of Buffalo, Cindy Gegenfurtner of Lancaster and Jamie Dembski of Cheektowaga; a sister, Diane Wolcott of Fontana, Calif.; her stepmother, Helen Lewandowski of Buffalo; three stepsisters, Theresa Mondel of Hamburg, Rosemarie Byrd or Evans and Denise Peplowski of Buffalo; and 12 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in Precious Blood Church, Lewis and Lyman streets, after prayers at 9:15 in Orlowski-Pietszak Funeral Home, 2400 William St., Cheektowaga. Entombment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
