A former music teacher pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Niagara County Court to a 32-count indictment accusing him of having sexual contact with a child younger than 11 over a 4 1/2 -year period.
Michael J. Solomon, 40, of Stenzil Street, North Tonawanda, also was accused of taking pornographic pictures of the victim and having child pornography on his computer.
Solomon taught drums and trumpet for 11 years at Matt's Music in North Tonawanda, which fired him after his arrest June 4. He was placed on unpaid leaves of absence by Holy Ghost Lutheran School, Wheatfield, and St. John's Lutheran School, North Tonawanda. The victim was not a student of Solomon's, police said at the time of his arrest.
He faces 10 counts of second-degree rape, seven counts of second-degree criminal sexual act, eight counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child, four counts of using a child in a sexual performance and single counts of first-degree rape and first- and second- degree courses of sexual conduct against a child.
The sexual acts began in August 1999 and continued through March of this year, according to court papers.
