A West Seneca retiree was ordered Tuesday to spend the next 15 years in state prison for sodomizing an 8-year-old boy at the Buffalo Small Boat Harbor in the summer.
Richard Greene, 67, of Center Road, was sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns on his guilty plea to a felony sexual act charge for the daytime incident July 15.
Burns, without comment, imposed the maximum-allowable prison term on Greene. Jailed since his arrest two days after the incident, Greene declined to comment during Tuesday's court proceeding, which was attended by relatives of his victim.
Prosecutor Rose McMorrow said Greene was taken into custody as the result of the boy's complaints to other adults, which prompted a quick investigation.
McMorrow said the sexual act charge to which Greene pleaded guilty used to be called sodomy until the State Legislature altered the state's criminal laws last year. Neither the prosecutor nor court officials would disclose the identity of the victim.
