JUNE 10, 1968 -- NOV. 15, 2004

Gina Militello of Pendleton, an assistant office manager for the AAA of Western and Central New York, died Monday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a long battle with cancer. She was 36.

Born in Buffalo, she was a 1986 graduate of Mount St. Mary Academy, where she was senior class president.

A longtime employee of the AAA, Miss Militello advanced to assistant office manager at the Orchard Park office before she retired due to her health in 2002.

Known for her positive and upbeat attitude throughout her illness, she was a devoted fan of the singer Michael Jackson and collected Michael Jackson, Hard Rock Cafe and M&M Candy memorabilia.

She also loved "The Wizard of Oz" and Judy Garland. She enjoyed gardening and bird-watching.

Surviving are her father, Sebastian "Sibby" of Buffalo; a sister, Maria Lipiec of Mentor, Ohio; a brother, David of Medina; and a close friend, Jamie Gebhard of Pendleton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. James Catholic Church, Bailey Avenue at Hastings Avenue, after prayers at 9 in Amigone Funeral Home, 5200 Sheridan Drive, Amherst. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
