The University at Buffalo men's basketball team is switching radio homes this season. After several years on WWKB-AM (1520), the Bulls' first game Saturday against nationally ranked University of Connecticut will be carried by WGR-AM (550).
WWKB and WGR have the same owner, Entercom Communications. The balance of UB's season will be carried by WLVL-AM (1340) in Lockport.
Entercom wants KB to concentrate on music, so the station will also drop Buffalo Bisons games in the spring, according to Greg Ried, Entercom vice president and general manager. The Bisons paid to have the games on KB and are expected to seek a similar deal elsewhere.
