PROJECT AIMS TO REFURBISH PUBLIC TENNIS COURTS IN PARK

Village officials had recreation on their minds Monday.

Police Chief Louis Pelletter, who has led several campaigns to revitalize park areas, announced that he is working to refurbish the public tennis courts. He said the project has won $29,500 in grants and another $8,000 is expected from the state. The village will pay for part of the project.

The work will include resurfacing, new stripes and new nets. The two courts are located in the village park, which has been the site of other improvements in recent years.

Mayor Elizabeth Turzillo said the village will support a roller skating program for youths. The skate outings will include transportation to the Roller Rink in Dunkirk. The first of the events will be Dec. 3.
