MAN HELD IN BURGLARY TRY AFTER CHASE BY POLICE

David M. Janosz, 36, of North Park Avenue, was arrested on numerous charges early Monday after he allegedly tried to break into a hardware store, then led police on a high-speed chase.

Janosz was charged with attempted burglary, three counts of criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, obstructing governmental administration, possession of burglar's tools, reckless driving and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Northwest District police said Janosz broke windows on two vehicles on Garfield Street, then broke a front window at County Supply Corp., 589 Tonawanda St., shortly after midnight.

When a witness pointed out Janosz's vehicle to police, officers said he drove off, ignoring several stop signs, and jumped out on Thompson Street while the vehicle was still in motion.

Officer Scott Malec said he found him hiding in a yard on 100 Amherst Street.
