Reading in The News about Kevin Gaughan's hopes for a new government, as opposed to Mayor Anthony Masiello's fears about one, explains why people in my neighborhood are interested in Gaughan's plan. He obviously believes that our city can recover and once again act as Western New York's economic engine.
Masiello, on the other hand, seems to think the sky might fall. He's apparently unaware that it already has. Contrast his letter to the commission that is studying a merger of Buffalo and Erie County with Gaughan's ambitious ideas for a new government, one that can help us create a stronger regional economy. The one asset that many of us who live in Buffalo have lacked for too long is hope. Gaughan offers it in abundance.
