Buffalo housing police arrested Derrick R. Norman, 21, of Moselle Street, on burglary and drug charges Monday morning after an attempted break-in at his ex-girlfriend's apartment on Fulton Street.

Norman was charged with attempted burglary, possession of burglar's tools, unlawful possession of marijuana, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal mischief.

Housing Authority Officers Daniel Kurdziel and Bart Adams, responding to a complaint of a threat at about 9:10 a.m., said they saw Norman trying to remove the lock on his former girlfriend's door in the 300 block of Fulton Street.

Officers said they found more than 500 milligrams of crack cocaine inside Norman's glove and marijuana and a screwdriver in his coat pockets.
